Matriculation to Professional Program

GPPA students should review the General Conditions of Acceptance and GPPA Program Conditions of Acceptance for the year they were admitted.  These are available on the GPPA website: https://gppa.uic.edu/current-students/conditions-of-acceptance/

The matriculation path for each GPPA program is outlined below. Important timelines and test requirements are outlined in the GPPA Program Conditions of Acceptance.

Master of Science in Biomedical Visualization (BVIS)

When a student is ready to matriculate into the Master of Science in Biomedical Visualization (BVIS) program, the student should notify the GPPA Advisor or the GPPA BVIS Program Coordinator. The GPPA Advisor provides this information to Admissions and the GPPA BVIS Program Coordinator. The GPPA BVIS Program Coordinator then asks the student to submit a graduate application if they have not already done so.

GPPA students do not need to pay the application fee or upload transcripts to the application.  Admissions will waive the application fee, and UIC transcripts will be uploaded automatically.

It is highly encouraged to submit applications early, before the program deadlines.

Master of Science in Kinesiology

When a student is ready to matriculate into the Master of Science in Kinesiology program, the student should notify the GPPA Advisor or the GPPA Kinesiology Program Coordinator. The GPPA Advisor provides this information to Admissions and the GPPA Kinesiology Program Coordinator. The GPPA Kinesiology Program Coordinator then asks the student to submit a graduate application if they have not already done so.

GPPA Kinesiology students do not need to pay the application fee or upload transcripts to the application.  Admissions will waive the application fee, and UIC transcripts will be uploaded automatically.

It is highly encouraged to submit applications early, before the program deadlines.

Master of Science in Nutrition

When a student is ready to matriculate into the Master of Science in Nutrition program, the student should notify the GPPA Advisor or the GPPA Nutrition Program Coordinator. The GPPA Advisor provides this information to Admissions and the GPPA Nutrition Program Coordinator. The GPPA Nutrition Program Coordinator then asks the student to submit a graduate application if they have not already done so.

GPPA students do not need to pay the application fee or upload transcripts to the application.  Admissions will waive the application fee, and UIC transcripts will be uploaded automatically.

Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (E-OTD)

When a student is ready to matriculate into the Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (E-OTD) program, they must email their completed requirements from the GPPA E-OTD Program Checklist to the GPPA Advisor (Celia DeBoer at cdeboe3@uic.edu), the GPPA E-OTD Program Coordinator (Dalmina Arias at arias3@uic.edu) and E-OTD Director of Admissions (Ashley Stoffel at astoffel@uic.edu) by December 1 of the year prior to their planned matriculation. Once submitted, the Senior Academic Advisor (Maria Larson-Juat at mlarso1@uic.edu) will request the student to complete a UIC graduate application if it has not already been submitted.

The GPPA E-OTD Program Checklist is provided to students by the GPPA OTD Program Coordinator, Dalmina Arias (arias3@uic.edu).

Students are strongly encouraged to submit their applications well before the December 1 deadline of the year prior to their planned matriculation. For example, a student planning to matriculate in Fall 2026 should submit their GPPA E-OTD Program Checklist requirements before December 1, 2025.

Doctorate in Physical Therapy (PTD)

When a student is ready to matriculate into the Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT), the student should notify the GPPA Advisor or the GPPA DPT Program Coordinator. The GPPA Advisor provides this information to Admissions and the GPPA DPT Program Coordinator. The GPPA DPT Program Coordinator then asks the student to submit a graduate application if they have not already done so.

Master of Science in Accounting; Business Analytics; or Management Information Systems

When a student is ready to matriculate into the Master of Science in Accounting, Business Analytics, or Management Information programs, the student should notify the GPPA Advisor or the GPPA Business Program Coordinator. The GPPA Advisor provides this information to Admissions and the GPPA BusinessProgram Coordinator. The GPPA Business Program Coordinator then asks the student to submit a graduate application if they have not already done so.

GPPA students do not need to pay the application fee or upload transcripts to the application.  Admissions will waive the application fee, and UIC transcripts will be uploaded automatically.

Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD)

In the spring semester of the junior year, students must meet with a member of the College of Dentistry Admissions staff no later than May 15th to review their progress for meeting the conditions of acceptance.

Students intending to matriculate in the D-1 class the following year must contact the College of Dentistry Office of Student and Diversity Affairs/Admissions in writing by June 1st, the opening date for AADSAS submissions, informing the office of their intent to enroll. Students must submit a completed formal AADSAS dental application no later than November 15th of the year before they expect to matriculate but are encouraged to submit their applications well in advance of the December 1st AADSAS deadline—no later than October 1st.

Master of Education (MEd) in Early Childhood Education; Instructional Leadership; Language, Literacies, and Learners; Measurement, Evaluation, Statistics, and Assessment; Science Education; or Special Education

When a student is ready to matriculate into a Master of Education (MEd) program, the student should notify the GPPA Advisor or the GPPA Education Program Coordinator. The GPPA Advisor provides this information to Admissions and the GPPA Education Program Coordinator. The GPPA Education Program Coordinator then asks the student to submit a graduate application if they have not already done so.

GPPA Education students do not need to pay the application fee or upload transcripts to the application.  Admissions will waive the application fee, and UIC transcripts will be uploaded automatically.

Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering; Chemical Engineering; Civil, Materials, and Environmental Engineering, Computer Science; Electrical and Computer Engineering; or Mechanical and Industrial Engineering

When a student is ready to matriculate into a Master of Science in an Engineering program, the student should notify the GPPA Advisor or the GPPA Engineering Program Coordinator. The GPPA Advisor provides this information to Admissions and the GPPA Engineering Program Coordinator. The GPPA Engineering Program Coordinator then asks the student to submit a graduate application if they have not already done so.

GPPA students do not need to pay the application fee or upload transcripts to the application.  Admissions will waive the application fee, and UIC transcripts will be uploaded automatically.

Juris Doctor (JD)

When a student is ready to matriculate into UIC’s School of Law, the student should notify the GPPA Advisor or the GPPA Law Program Coordinator. The GPPA Advisor provides this information to Admissions and the GPPA Law Program Coordinator. The GPPA Law Program Coordinator then asks the student to submit a law school application if they have not already done so.

GPPA Law students do not need to upload transcripts to the application.  There is no application fee to apply to UIC Law, and UIC Admissions will upload UIC transcripts automatically.

Once the application is processed, the student is admitted, and they will receive the law school acceptance letter with seat deposit information that all law students are required to pay.

Doctor of Medicine (MD)

GPPA Medical Scholars Program (MSP) students get access to a Blackboard site in the Fall semester of their first year. Students should review the steps posted on Blackboard for matriculation into UIC’s College of Medicine.

In the academic year prior to entering the College of Medicine, students must complete all required steps for application to medical school, including AMCAS and the College of Medicine Supplemental Application. The deadlines for GPPA students are intentionally set to allow acceptance into the College of Medicine, with the first round of offers in the middle of October.

To allow for this timeline, the AMCAS application must be submitted no later than the end of July of the application year. The supplemental application and letters of recommendation are due by the end of August of the application year. Students are required to complete the CASPer test by the end of August.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

UIC GPPA Nursing students are not required to submit an application. A GPPS Nursing student’s admission to the College of Nursing is determined as part of their admission via the GPPA program.

As long as the GPPA Nursing student meets the conditions of acceptance for GPPA Nursing, they are set to matriculate into the nursing program. At the end of the spring semester in the second year, GPPA Nursing students will get an email detailing the next steps to start the nursing program in the Fall of the third year.

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)

Before being officially admitted to the Retzky College of Pharmacy PharmD program, GPPA Pharmacy students must complete the entire admissions process which includes the submission of the PHARMCAS and UIC supplemental applications, and successful completion of the PharmD interview.

It is highly encouraged to submit applications early, prior to the program deadlines.

All admitted PharmD students must adhere to all of the Retzky College of Pharmacy’s Matriculation and Continued Enrollment Policies including obtaining a pharmacy technician License.

Master of Public Health (MPH)

When a student is ready to matriculate into the Master of Public Health (MPH) program, the student should notify the GPPA Advisor or the GPPA MPH Program Coordinator. The GPPA Advisor provides this information to Admissions and the GPPA MPH Program Coordinator. The GPPA MPH Program Coordinator then asks the student to submit a graduate application if they have not already done so.

GPPA students do not need to pay the application fee or upload transcripts to the application.  Admissions will waive the application fee, and UIC transcripts will be uploaded automatically.

Master of Civil Analytics (MCA); Public Administration (MPA); Public Policy (MPP); or Urban Planning & Policy (MUPP)

When a student is ready to matriculate into a master’s program in the College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs (CUPPA), the student should notify the GPPA Advisor or the GPPA CUPPA Program Coordinator, who will then inform the Office of Admissions. The student will then be asked to submit a graduate application if they have not already done so.

GPPA students do not need to pay the application fee or upload transcripts to the application.  Admissions will waive the application fee, and UIC transcripts will be uploaded automatically.
